Filming of LOST took place in & around Honolulu, where its very unlikely to ever encounter a polar_bear. However, the USS_Honolulu_(SSN-718) had been known to occasionally cross paths with a few polar bears.

Alien originally was to conclude with the destruction of the Nostromo while Ripley escapes in the shuttle Narcissus. However, Ridley Scott conceived of a "fourth act" to the film in which the Alien appears on the shuttle and Ripley is forced to confront it. He pitched the idea to 20th Century Fox and negotiated an increase in the budget in order to film the scene over several extra days. Scott had wanted the Alien to bite off Ripley's head and then make the final log entry in her voice, but the producers vetoed this idea as they believed that the Alien had to die at the end of the film."}

What are monsters anyway? When is a dog just a dog, that's The Thing, isn't it? Cujo becomes the classic rabid dog on the loose story. Is a Rottweiler, just more of a big dog than a Monster? Its not all black & white within the spectrum of light. The Giant_Panda can become just as ferocious as a polar bear. In a way, the big destructive monster in Cloverfield was just a confused & angry pup. The Grizzly/polar_bear_hybrid isn't some CGI effect from a movie or TV series. However, a Hybrid isn't always a monster. Dogs have been crossbred for quite some time. The Rottweiler is quite a big & tough dog, but they aren't all monsters, just because of their size. When a being is a mutant, or has been augmented with surgical upgrades, could there be a higher chance of it becoming a monster? Several factors are involved in the development of natural & altered life forms. Is SPLICE just another monster movie? Its also about a chimera, how a composite life form is created in a lab, gets big, angry & confused & then escapes.

For many from a hard science perspective, life & even consciousness is merely the result of the universe Booting-Up. The origin-of-the-universe wasn't kick started by anything & consciousness is merely a byproduct of this world.
