Rupert basically mentioned that the brain could be more about accessing information from a cosmic-field-of data & less of a storage organ. However, the brain has a memory system that functions on various levels. A basic analogy would be like a laptop with its internal data storage that can be temporally connected to an external hard drive. The external hard drive is merely an extension & expansion of a lap tops hard drive. Of course, a laptop can be connected to the Internet through a cord or with wi-fi. Thus, the human brain/mind can store local data & access non local data from something like a cosmic Internet.

The ancient concept of the Akashic_records or the modern concept of the quantumhologram is such a fascinating idea to explore. Those that are very skeptical might not be that interested in seriously considering something like a cosmic-data-field-of-consciousness. Even reincarnation is just another preposterous belief to be dismissed. But being skeptical doesn't mean that one cant still have an open mind. Somehow Matter_and_energy, Life & Consciousness came into existence. Thus, Materialism is merely a byproduct of it all. However, for those that are more curious about the nature of reality, materialism is an aspect of cosmic consciousness that's been around for at least as long as the universe. Of course the concept of a cosmic creator implies that consciousness was around before the creation & formation of the cosmos.
